Caution: Children at Play – Now Showing at the Bronfman Center at NYU

In June 2010, a group of students from the Bronfman Center for Jewish Life at NYU participated in the JDC Short-Term Service Program to Tel Aviv, Israel, in partnership with JDC’s Center for International Migration and Integration (CIMI). Their service focused on at-risk children whose parents are refugees, asylum-seekers, and foreign workers from Sudan, Eritrea, Ghana, the Philippines, and other countries.

Below are a few of the images these students captured while serving in Israel. The full gallery is on display through January at the Bronfman Center in the West Village.

Sweating, Service and Surprises: My Summer Experience in Ukraine

Hi! I’m Naomi and I’m a third-year student at Cornell studying Landscape Architecture.  This past August, I went on the JDC Short-Term Service program to Ukraine.

Naomi, second from the right, reflects on her experience in Ukraine through her photography.

I went because I am very interested in seeing new parts of the world, experiencing new cultures, and sharing my Jewish experiences with others.  These photos give you a taste of my experiences during the time I spent in Donetsk and Dnepropetrovsk with our Ukrainian peers.

Photo Essay: The Jewish Community of India

Adam, Tufts Hillel, and the Jewish Youth Pioneers of India

Earlier this summer, students from the Tufts University Hillel participated in a JDC Short-Term Service trip to the Jewish community of India.

Following this experience, participant Adam Shepro collected his thoughts, reviewed his [outstanding] photographs, and assembled a photo essay on his experience in India with his peers.

Jewish Morocco: Then and Now

Throughout 2010, JDC Next Generation will be touring the United States with Jewish Morocco: Then and Now, a photo exhibit offering an inside, candid look at the Moroccan Jewish community. Photo in the exhibit were graciously provided by Jewish North American young adults and the acclaimed JDC Archives.
